“The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.”

For the bit. And so you could get to know me better. But mostly for the bit.

If you couldn’t tell by the quote at the top of this page, it gets a little chaotic in the ol’ ADHD-ridden brain from time to time. It’s my greatest strength and my greatest weakness.
What helps me channel that energy?
Having a working environment where I’m free to show up as my authentic self—where I can crack dumb jokes, go on brainstorming walks, have space to focus when I need it…that’s when I do my best work.
-
Not currently, but I could certainly be convinced.
-
I have a twin! And yes, we have powers.
-
Summiting my first 14er or biking 850 miles from Miami to Tallahassee (it was a ride for charity; I’m not crazy enough to do that on my own.)

I created one in my media ethics class in college (shoutout Dr. Michael Bugeja at ISU), and I think it holds up pretty well. Here’s that, updated to reflect more current issues.
Preamble:
Having an honest, compassionate ethics code is an important step in making the world a more pleasant and accepting place. Large-scale changes come from individual choices, and my ethics code will help guide my decisions every day.
My ethics code:
I promise to show humility at all times, making sure to give back as I move forward.
I will always listen to those around me, as the brightest ideas often come from the quietest (and most underrepresented) voices. I will accept and seek out feedback, as I believe that there’s always room for improvement.
The advertising industry, by definition, has a great deal of influence in society. We have the power to give people and ideas a platform. We have the power to create and recirculate narratives. The way we use (or choose not to use) that power can have a profound impact on communities and individuals, especially those who are marginalized and underserved.
No matter the project or the client, I will always try to consider the implications of the messages I’m creating and the stories I’m telling. What biases do they possibly reflect? How could they be potentially offensive or hurtful? Where can I find opportunities to center people of color, folks in the queer community, people with disabilities and other historically underserved populations in the conversation? When should I speak up, and when should I simply listen? The answers are ever-evolving. I fully recognize and accept my responsibility to keep seeking them out.
It’s nothing brave. It’s nothing exceptional. It’s the bare minimum, and it’s the least we can do.

Yes. I have an adorable party mix mini schnauzer named Cricket. And she’s as spoiled as you’d expect.
-
Hiking, walking, playing with Cricket, exploring bars and restaurants in Denver/Boulder, going down geology documentary rabbit holes on YouTube…the usual.
-
Not one bit; I’m irreplaceable. For now.
-
Woah, what? Don’t ask me that; I have no idea.
-
Now seems like a good time. Peace!
